Dr. Young Dae Yoon

About

Dr. Yoon is a Junior Research Group Leader at the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics and an adjunct professor at POSTECH, researching magnetized plasma physics and relativistic beam dynamics. He received his PhD from Caltech, where he developed new theory for magnetic reconnection and energetic particle dynamics.

His interests include magnetic reconnection, magnetogenesis, non-equilibrium dynamics, relativistic wave-particle interactions, runaway electrons, magnetic turbulence, and accelerator physics. These topics connect to planetary magnetospheres, solar and stellar phenomena, fusion, and particle accelerators.

He focuses on analytical and numerical work, always comparing with experiments and observations.
